What is hydrophobic powder used for?
Hydrophobic powder makes a hardened mortar repel water: it is dosed into the dry blend and reduces capillary water absorption in waterproof render, tile adhesive, screed and EIFS base coat. Because it is a powder, it disperses through the blend like the other additives and reaches the whole mix rather than only the surface.
Should I use hydrophobic powder or a liquid silane?
Use the powder when the product is a dry blend and there is no liquid dosing line; use a liquid when the repellent has to be applied to a hardened surface. The powder is dosed with the cellulose ether through the same line, so it needs no extra handling, no solvent and no separate tank on site. It is a mixture and carries no single CAS number.

Hydrophobic Powder ships in 25 kg, 12.5 kg and 6.25 kg bags or 1,000 kg jumbo bags. Custom printing is available on all pack sizes and the artwork design is free of charge.
