Polypropylene fiber (PP fiber)

Micro-reinforcement fiber that controls plastic shrinkage cracking in renders, screeds and mortars.
ALCellu PP fiber 20 kg export bag

Product overview

What PP Fiber is

Polypropylene micro-fibers disperse through fresh mortar and hold plastic shrinkage cracks closed while the mix cures. They do not replace structural steel — they control the early-age cracking that shows up as map cracking on renders and screeds.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about PP Fiber

What do PP fibers do in a mortar?

PP micro-fibers control plastic shrinkage cracking. They disperse through the fresh mix, hold the crack opening closed while the mortar is still plastic, and stop the map cracking that shows up on renders and screeds after the first drying cycle. They do not carry structural load and do not replace steel reinforcement.

Do PP fibers replace steel reinforcement?

No. PP fibers act before the mortar hardens, at the stage when plastic shrinkage would otherwise open cracks; structural reinforcement acts after it hardens. A screed or render still needs its mesh or its structural steel. What the fiber changes is the surface quality and the durability of the skin, not the load path of the element.

How is PP fiber packed and shipped?

PP Fiber ships in 20 kg bags. Custom printing is available on all pack sizes and the artwork design is free of charge. The minimum order is 1 metric ton. Loading quantities for a 20-foot container are quoted per order. A free sample is available so you can run a trial mix before ordering.
